COMPARISON

Cardboard vs FinalTake

Cardboard is an agentic video editor: you bring footage, or a prompt, and its Director cuts a timeline you keep editing. FinalTake starts one step earlier — with a product, a script or a brochure and nothing to cut — and directs the whole ad for you to approve before a credit is spent.

Cardboard: Best when you already have footage and want an AI to cut it on a real timeline.

FinalTake: Best when you have a product, a script or a link and no footage — a presenter, b-roll and captions, planned and priced before anything generates.

When to pick which

PICK CARDBOARD

You already shot the footage

If the raw material exists — interviews, screen recordings, a long podcast — Cardboard’s timeline, frame-level control and hand-off to Premiere or Final Cut are the right tools. FinalTake does not edit footage on a timeline.

PICK FINALTAKE

You have a product and no footage

When the job is to make the ad — a presenter holding your product, b-roll, captions, a script you approve — FinalTake plans it, shows the price, and renders it on our servers.

Common objections

Cardboard has a real timeline — doesn’t that make it better?
For editing, yes. If you have footage and need frame-level control, a timeline is the right tool and FinalTake does not try to be one. For making an ad from nothing, a timeline is the wrong starting point: you would still have nothing to put on it.
Cardboard also has a “Director”. Is it the same thing?
The name matches; the job differs. Cardboard’s Director cuts footage into a timeline. FinalTake’s Director plans a storyboard, shows what it will cost, and waits for your approval before anything generates.
Can I use both?
Yes. Generate the ad in FinalTake, then bring the finished video into Cardboard or any editor if you want frame-level polish on top.

FAQs

What is the difference between Cardboard and FinalTake?

Does Cardboard have AI avatars or lip sync?
Cardboard lists no avatar or lip-sync feature. FinalTake offers stock presenters and custom avatars, each with a voice, lip-synced to your script.
How does Cardboard pricing compare to FinalTake?
Cardboard lists Lite $8, Starter $29, Creator $59 and Pro $175 per month with two credit types and no published per-action rate.
